TOT's Evaluation and Treatment:
Tongue & Lip Ties & Beyond

Tongue and lip ties are tight bands of tissue that interfere with normal oral function.

Full tongue mobility is essential for a good latch and effective milk transfer, even from a bottle.

It’s not just the outward appearance, but rather the function that is most important.

Dr. Schecter specializes in evaluating oral function and treating abnormalities.

Signs Your Baby May Have a Tie:

Parent:

  • Painful breastfeeding

  • Damaged nipples

Infant:

  • Heart-shaped tongue

  • Poor tongue elevation

  • Inability to latch

  • Shallow latch

  • “Clicking” while feeding

  • Reflux

  • Gassiness

  • Poor weight gain

  • Poor milk transfer

  • Never satisfied at the breast

Not sure? We’ll figure it out together.
